Educating the population on behavior in case of an accident with the release of radioactive substances
It is necessary to protect the respiratory organs with personal protective equipment: wear gas masks, respirators, cotton-gauze bandages or use improvised means - scarves, scarves, and other woven products when an alarm is received with a message about the release of radioactive substances.
In open areas, don't undress, don't sit on the ground and don't smoke, exclude swimming in open reservoirs and picking forest berries and mushrooms.
Use water only from trusted sources and food purchased in stores.
Make stocks of water, put food in the refrigerator or in an airtight container.
If you are indoors:
- take a place away from windows;
- close all the vents;
- leave the premises only if necessary and for a short time, while using a respirator, raincoat, rubber boots and gloves;
- thoroughly wash your hands before eating and rinse your mouth with a 0.5% solution of baking soda;
- before entering the room, wash your shoes, shake out and brush your outer clothing with a damp brush;
- carry out a thorough damp cleaning every day using detergents in the room.
Prepare for an evacuation.
Before evacuating, turn off all electrical appliances, make a supply of water and food. Take documents, valuables, spare and warm clothing.
After leaving the premises to the contaminated area, the following rules must be observed:
- don't take off personal protective equipment in an open area;
- avoid raising dust when moving;
- don't sit down unnecessarily and don't touch foreign objects;
- don't drink, don't eat, don't smoke;
- periodically wipe open areas of the body with a cloth or handkerchief.
The evacuees arriving at the accommodation area must register Complete sanitization.
Rinse eyes with clean water, rinse mouth and throat.
Immediately carry out iodine prophylaxis. The iodine preparation must be taken once within 7 consecutive days.
