Zero Injury Week: Preventing Ice-Related Injuries
Monday, 02 December 2024
With the onset of winter, the risk of

    injuries on slippery sidewalks and
    roads increases. To avoid troubles,
especially on icy days, it is important
    to follow safety precautions.

How to protect yourself on icy days:
- Choose the right footwear. Wear non-slip shoes with flat or ribbed soles. Use anti-slip pads or stick insulation tape on the sole.
 - Move carefully. Walk slowly, stepping with your whole foot. On slippery sections, move with slightly bent knees, keeping your feet close to the ground.
 - Falling is not a sentence. If you slip, try to squat to reduce the height of the fall. Curl up, keeping your elbows to your sides and your chin to your chest. Avoid falling on outstretched arms.

First aid for injuries:
- Immobilize the injured limb by securing it with a scarf or a board.
 - Apply cold, such as snow, to reduce swelling.
 - Seek medical attention to prevent complications.

The main principles of zero injuries are attentiveness, caution, and
proper preparation. Follow simple safety measures to make your winter walks
    comfortable and safe!

Be attentive and take care of your health!
