December 15-21, 2025 Zero Injury Week

Monday, 15 December 2025

From December 15 to 21, 2025, the "Zero Injury Week" is being held on the topic "Ice-related injuries - preventing falls".

The goal is to minimize the risks of injury arising from unstable winter weather, ice, snow, and frost on pedestrian areas and access roads.

To prevent workplace injuries in winter, it is necessary to:
• timely clear snow, ice, and treat sidewalks, pedestrian zones, building entrances, and steps
with anti-icing agents daily and as needed;
• timely remove snow and ice formations from roofs, balconies, and other
protruding parts of the building;
• have a supply of anti-icing agents;
• when necessary, install warning signs: "Caution! Snow and ice may fall from the roof",
"Caution! Slippery steps", "Caution! Ice";
• use necessary personal protective equipment when performing work
outdoors;
• conduct occupational safety briefings in a timely and qualitative manner;
• monitor the implementation of anti-icing measures.

Ice and frost are causes of emergencies. To avoid being among the injured, follow these rules:
• Pace of movement: Walk slowly. When walking fast, the chances of falling and
getting injured increase sharply.
• Proper footwear: Prefer footwear with flat soles, a wide toe, and
clear, large treads. Avoid high heels and platforms.
• Free hands: Do not keep your hands in your pockets. Free hand movements will help you
maintain balance if you lose support.
• Walking technique: Step on the entire sole at once, do not roll from heel to
toe. Avoid areas with sloped surfaces.
• Clothing: Choose clothing that does not restrict movement. If wearing a long
coat or fur coat, lift the hem when descending or exiting transport.
• Movement on steps: When ascending or descending steps, hold onto
handrails and banisters. Place your feet on slippery steps carefully, at a slight angle.
• In case of a fall: If a fall is unavoidable, try to squat and
tuck in. Avoid falling flat on your back or face; try to fall on your side
to protect your spine and head.
• Exercise caution, especially when crossing the road. Look carefully under
your feet. Control every step. Avoid dangerous places.

Follow the rules! Stay safe!
