On May 9, 2026, Belarus once again turns to the sacred date — Victory Day
of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War,
which will forever remain a symbol of courage,
fortitude and unity in the face of
a deadly threat.
For Belarus, this date has special significance: our land was the first to take
the enemy's blow, becoming the arena of the largest battles of the first years of the war.
Three years of fascist occupation, more than 2.5 million dead — every
third resident of the republic, 209 destroyed cities and towns, 9,200
burned villages… However, the indomitable spirit of the people, the partisan
resistance, which became the largest in Europe, and the hope for
Victory became the embodiment of unprecedented courage.
Today, Belarus carefully preserves the memory of the feat of its ancestors. Memorial
complexes "Khatyn", "Brest Hero-Fortress", "Mound of Glory",
"Trostene ts" and hundreds of other monuments throughout the country remind us of
the price of the Great Victory. The annual campaigns "Belarus Remembers", "Flowers of the
Great Victory" unite generations, passing on the torch of memory.
In 2026, solemn events, meetings with
veterans, thematic exhibitions and scientific conferences dedicated to
preserving the historical truth about the war will take place throughout the country.
May the memory of the feat of our ancestors live forever and inspire us
to create, unite and love our native land!
