Day of National Unity in Belarus

The holiday marks the anniversary of the beginning of the Red Army's liberation campaign into Western Belarus in 1939. It was then that historical justice was restored: the Belarusian people, divided by the terms of the Riga Peace Treaty, were reunited on their native land. This reunification became a pivotal milestone in the history of Belarus, predetermining its future path.
The restored unity allowed the country to withstand the severe trials of the Great Patriotic War, make a huge contribution to the Victory, and later take its rightful place in the world community. Belarus became one of the founding states of the United Nations, establishing itself as a full-fledged and significant participant in international processes.
